The I Get Wet Cover and the Songs Behind It

· The Artist

The bloody nose shows up on so many of my designs that it deserves its own story. It starts with my debut album, I Get Wet.

When did I Get Wet come out?

I Get Wet was released on 13 November 2001 on Island Records. "Party Hard" came first, as a single on 29 October 2001. "She Is Beautiful", "We Want Fun" and "Fun Night" followed as singles, and the album opens with "It's Time to Party".

How did the cover happen?

Photographer Roe Ethridge shot the cover, which shows me with a heavy nosebleed. I hit my face with a cinder block and added animal blood from a butcher's. It became the image people link with me, and you'll find it across the collection.

Where is it on the designs?

  • Bloody Nose Portrait: a painted portrait of the wet hair and blood-streaked face, under a bold name banner.
  • Cartoon Bloody Nose: a grinning cartoon face with the nosebleed pouring down.
  • Blood Drip Logo: the name in serif capitals, cut through by a red drip.
  • Party Hard Cartoon: a thumbs-up cartoon me, living the first single.

What should you pick?

Tip: for the closest nod to the album, take the Bloody Nose Portrait. For something lighter, take the cartoon.
