Bloody Noses and Party Tips: Our Designs Explained

· Style & Merch

Every Andrew W.K. design in our store comes from his world: the albums, the songs, the party tips and a lot of jokes. Here is what is printed on them, and why.

Why is there a bloody nose on everything?

Because of I Get Wet. The 2001 debut's cover shows Andrew W.K. with blood running from his nose, and it became his signature. You will find it on our Bloody Nose Portrait, the Cartoon Bloody Nose, the U.S. Department of Partying seal and the minimal Blood Drip Logo, where a red drip cuts through the name.

What about PARTY HARD?

"Party Hard" was the first single from I Get Wet, and it shows up in several forms:

  • Party Hard Cartoon: a thumbs-up cartoon Andrew with a speech bubble.
  • Hello Party Kitty: a famous cartoon cat with a nosebleed.
  • Party Hard Pony: a pink pony, a nod to his 2012 talk "How to Party like Pinkie Pie" at a My Little Pony fan convention.
  • The Party Shades: a glam pop-album close-up with PARTY | HARD underneath.

Which designs come from the albums?

The God Is Partying Zombie takes the title of his 2021 album and gives it a horror-movie skull. The Keyboard Lightning design shows him between two towering keyboard rigs, a nod to the piano he has played since he was four.

And the funny ones?

  • Party Tip: his famous PARTY TIP format, with one tip: listen to Andrew W.K.
  • What Is Partying: a cartoon face on the front, and a phone chat answered in emoji on the back.
  • Evolution of Partying: from ape to rock-star jump.
  • Pizza Surfer and Taco Guitar: two party foods, two very silly ideas.
